Why is Obuma and his cronies wrong about Gun control. Here it is The facts & figures.Government’s own official records

Good morning all! It’s time again to be “bad Americans” by choosing to be the new radical counter-culturists, do the politically incorrect things, and question people who call themselves our government.

This is a long and detailed post with sources provided at the end. Please feel free to copy it or use it in your debates!

For all the moaners and groaners out there loyally goose-stepping after Herr Obama I took the liberty of providing factual and documented sources from the Centers of Disease Control and the Bureau of Justice Statistics. (In other words, the government’s own official records are providing the information.) With all the intentionally biased misinformation being generated by Mr. Obama, the Democrats, anti-gun advocates, and the mainstream media’s inability to truthfully inform the public regarding Americans liberties and rights under the 2nd Amendment I decided to examine some of the government’s own claims.

In 2010 the Centers for Disease Control and Department of Justice Bureau of Justice Statistics reported that there were 31,672 deaths in the United States related to firearms. That many deaths are bad enough, so the next question would obviously be: How did the CDC and DOJ reach their conclusions and what were the categories used to determine their findings?

The CDC based the report on the following five categories: 1. Suicide, 2. Gang/Crime-related, 3. Justified Homicide (either by Law Enforcement or Citizens using firearms in self- defense), 4. Accidental Discharges, and 5. Unknown/Non-Specified firearms related deaths.

This is where the statistics, numbers, and percentages become very interesting.

Category 1: Suicide had 19,392 deaths accounting for 61.2%.
Category 2: Gang/Criminal-related had 8,880 deaths accounting for 28%
Category 3: Justifiable Homicide (Law Enforcement or Citizens) had 544 deaths accounting for 1.7%
Category 4: Accidental Discharges had 851 deaths accounting for 2.6%
Category 5: Not Specified by the CDC or DOJ had 2005 deaths accounting for 6%

These statistical records and facts from the CDC and Dept. of Justice BJS account for 99.5% of all firearm related deaths in the United States in the year 2010.

Anyone with even a small amount of common sense can already deduce that 89.2% of all deaths related to firearms (28,272) were either self-inflicted or caused by criminals.

What is Mr. Obama and the Democrats only proposed solution to remedy the obvious problem posed by mental health and crime? Ban and deny access or ownership of all “assault weapons” to American citizens who have no mental health issues and have committed no crimes.

It is estimated that there are over 80,000,000 legal, law abiding, and responsible firearms owners currently in the United States. These Americans are exercising their liberties guaranteed by the U.S. Constitution under the 2nd Amendment. Please note that I did not use the word “freedom” because freedom is never free. I used the word “liberty” because it implies responsibility, discipline, duty, and personal accountability which are virtues that define a truly free people.

Dividing 28,272 by 80,000,000 we arrive at 0.0003534. This means that Mr. Obama, Diane Feinstein, Charles Schumer, and the Democrats are deciding to base their policies and laws on 0.0004% of something occurring. Going in the opposite direction and dividing 80,000,000 by 28,272 we arrive at 2829.7- to-1. In both cases the proposed solution does not focus on fixing the problem related to the minority, but taking away the liberties of the majority.

The next question would logically be: Where and how did the individuals and criminals obtain their weapons?

While there is no record of where the individuals who committed suicide purchased or obtained their firearms, there are records that give clear indication and evidence as to where the majority of criminals obtain their firearms.

According to a 2002 report from the U.S. Dept. of Justice, Office of Justice Programs, the following statistics were released describing how felons obtained firearms:

39% were obtained from family or friends who gave or lent them.
33% were obtained from theft, drug dealers, black market, and illegal sales.
22% were obtained through legitimate purchases such as stores, pawn shops, or gun shows.
6% were obtained through other not specified means.

It is very easy to see that roughly 72% of the problem is related not to the firearms, but irresponsible gun ownership and criminal activity. This is where the majority of time, energy, and resources need to be directed-not a gun ban that targets Americans who have broken no laws. The 22% of the remaining 28% can be effectively dealt with as there are already existing firearms laws that specifically deal with this issues that have not been enforced.

Additionally the DOJ OJP reported statistics of the various types of weapons that criminals used in the commission of their crimes.
Handguns were used in the commission of 83% of crimes.
Shotguns were used in the commission of 10% of crimes.
Rifles were used in the commission of 7% of crimes.

(It is important to note here that military style rifles were used in less than 8% of all crimes committed with rifles. This means that 92% of all rifle crimes do not involve military “assault weapons” but standard civilian market weapons.)

The hypocrisy of Mr. Obama, Diana Feinstein, Chuck Schumer, and the Democratic Party is obvious. They are deliberately and intentionally choosing to ignore 99% of what is actually causing the crime in order to focus on a minor percentage of the smallest percent.

What have we learned from this?

First, we have learned that the majority of the deaths from firearms are not coming from law abiding Americans who own “assault rifles” and are within their legal rights under the 2nd Amendment as Mr. Obama, the Democratic Party, the media, and anti-gun advocates try to insinuate with their agenda. The facts show that rifles are used in only about 7% of ALL crimes (and of all firearms crimes committed with rifles only 8% are committed with military style weapons.)

Second, the majority of deaths relate to suicide (mental health) and criminal activity 89.2% (that has not being properly addressed of crimes punished). Even so, the evidence clearly demonstrates that the overwhelming majority of the problem is not being generated or caused by law abiding American citizens who own firearms.

Third, the fact that 39% of convicted criminals obtained their weapons from friends or relatives indicates that a number of people are in fact being irresponsible gun owners. However, the statistical fact remains that the criminal culture represents a considerably smaller minority in proportion to the much larger legal and law abiding gun owners. Additionally, statistics still clearly demonstrate that roughly 33% of criminals obtain their firearms through illegal methods or means. Punishing Americans who have broken no laws for the unlawful actions of a criminal minority who break laws is illogical, irrational, and irresponsible.

Sadly, I am out of time, but I hope this provides some food for thought!

Semper Fi, and God Bless America!
